Palola has teamed up with Joanna Wee, leather jewelry designer and Founder of local jewelry brand Blithe and Merry, to offer a series of collaborative jewelry making workshops, hosted at the Palola flagship boutique at 68 Duxton Road.

During these hands-on workshops, Joanna will be teaching participants to handcraft intricate pieces of leather jewelry using the same Italian calf leather used to make Palola footwear.

The making of leather footwear usually results in a significant amount of leather offcuts being left behind after the footwear uppers have been cut out. Leather offcuts that are too small to be used to make any parts of the footwear uppers are typically discarded.

In order to reduce the amount of leather offcuts being discarded, Palola is collaborating with Blithe and Merry to "upcycle" the leather offcuts into beautiful pieces of leather jewelry.

Participants will be required to select their preferred choice of jewelry at the point of purchase.

The "Quatrefoil Peranakan Tile" stud earrings will be made using Palola's Italian calf leathers and embedded earposts made from hypoallergenic surgical steel, while the "Quatrefoil Peranakan Tile" necklaces will be made using Palola Italian calf leathers, acrylic chain, freshwater pearls and Blithe and Merry's signature toggle clasp made from 18-carat gold-plated brass.

Embracing the essence of traditional Peranakan tiles with its bright colours and intricate details, these stunning pieces of jewelry are both statement and classic pieces, all-in-one.

This workshop is meant for participants of all levels, and no prior leather-crafting or jewelry-making experience is necessary.

All raw materials and tools will be provided for the participants during the workshop, as well as light refreshments.
